Global Coordinator
Deysy Lamas
Current Location: Houston, Texas, USA
Dear friends:
I have been a Schlumberger Spouse since 1998. I am Venezuelan, married
to Jesus Lamas, who is Venezuelan too, and who works for Drilling and Measurement
as Sales Manager for VTT. I have two children: Andreina (9) and Oscar (2),
she is Venezuelan and he is Mexican. We have lived in many different countries
since my husband started this enjoyable journey.
I realized how important the SSA is when we moved to Lafayette, Louisiana
(United States of America), with me saying almost nothing in English, and
meeting there lots of people willing to help me. I was so relieved knowing
they were there for me. I applied for this position and accepted it because
I truly believe in the importance that our organization has and the meaning
of this for many people all over the world. Accepting this position represents
for me a huge challenge. I have met two wonderful women who have left their
mark on our organization: Sandra Luckett and Karen Costelloe, we should
be so grateful for everything they and their teams have done for us. Although
in different ways, Sandra and Karen led the organization with the same main
idea: back to the basics and being compassionate, which means that we cannot
forget what is like to be in a new location, and the happiness that fills
our hearts when we meet somebody to give us a hand in a completely new place.
Recently, a new friend told me she knew I am going to leave my own mark
too, and I hope I can, but I cannot do it without your help and support. Remember,
I am here for each one of you, and you can count on me at any time, but I
am counting on you to help me spread the importance of the SSA in every single
location of Schlumberger, no matter how big or small it is.
We have a wonderful team who is there for you and needs your support; remember
you are welcome to share your ideas and concerns to your area coordinator,
but also remember you can email me or call me when you need to. I want to
hear all you have to say for the benefit of our group, so please do not
hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,

Estimados amigos y amigas:
su huella en nuestra organización: Sandra Luckett y Karen Costelloe;
Sinceramente,
Deysy

Anisa Haddad
Current location: Kuala Lumpur
I am honored to serve the SSA as your Global Communication Coordinator (GCC). As GCC, I am responsible for internal (within the SSA) and external PR and Marketing; writing/editing SSAfara press releases and writing for, editing and publishing all SSA Area Newsletters, the SSA Global Newsletter, the SSA Global Green Issue and the SSA Volunteer Management Handbook. As GCC, I am also responsible for maintaining up to date and accurate organizational records and documents such as the SSA Guidelines, SLB-SSA Guidelines and SSA Chapter Start-Up Kit. I hope that through my position as GCC, I will be able to promote the good works that the SSA is doing for Schlumberger spouses/partners and families. As Anthony Robbins says, “to effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others”. If English is not your first language, please feel free to send me your ideas/input in another language and I will find one of our wonderful SSA members to help me translate it. My inbox is always open – let’s communicate!

Melodie Beveridge
Current Location: Hobbs, New Mexico, USA

Hello, my name is Melodie Beveridge. I am an American.
I grew up in Northern California so far north that Oregon was a stone’s throw
away. My husband, Scott, and I have been together for almost 20 years. Our
“kids” are 2 cats and 2 dogs (Daisy, Stinkyhead, Lucreasha &
Peanut).
I got hooked on computers when I managed a pizza delivery store that did
"bug" testing for the software we used. Scott and I got our first computer
in 1994 and Internet access a year later. Since then I have been surfing and
learning as fast as I can. I signed up for anything and everything online.
I found the freebies, sweepstakes and beta testing websites. I have beta tested
software for companies like 3DO, Turbine, Berkeley Software, Microsoft and
Near Death Studios to name a few.
Scott started working for Schlumberger in Rock Springs, Wyoming during the
summer of 2001. Just a couple of months later an SSA chapter was started.
I jumped in with both feet as the Web Coordinator for the chapter. I had taken
a couple of free HTML classes via the Internet. So with the help of some
free software, I was able to build the website. After doing the local SSA
website, I decided to go to college. The classes I wanted to take were not
available locally so I opted for an education via the Internet. On July 1,
2006, I received a BS in Management/Information Technology Management. Now
I am busy with the biggest project I have ever done. The project is a design
of SSAfara.net adding both front & back office tools using Alfresco and
LifeRay. I am grateful for all the SSA volunteers worldwide who are helping
to complete this project. Without them, this project would not be possible.
I believe communication and teamwork are the keys for a solid foundation
in any organization. SSAW has had people both past and present who have started
and built upon such a foundation. I am grateful for being given this opportunity
to help Deysy, Anisa, Karen and the Area Coordinators to help maintain and
build upon this great foundation.
Regards,
Melodie
