1. Spousal access
to the Schlumberger provided electronic communication tools is granted
in order to provide better communication between the diverse community
of Schlumberger spouses around the world. The proper use of these
tools, as defined in this agreement (and associated training) is
essential
to security of Schlumberger and the success of this program.
2.
The SSA communication
network belongs to Schlumberger.
3.
Communicating with multiple
SSA members (e.g., sending bulk e-mail and/or sending email to groups
of
spouses) must be managed through the proper SSA communication channels,
i.e., via SSA local, regional and global boards.
4.
You will use these tools
only for SSA-related purposes. In particular, you will not use these
facilities
for any commercial or business purpose. Soliciting the network of
spouses for personal business purposes is forbidden.
5.
You do not work for a
Schlumberger competitor. If at any point in the future you do
work
for a competitor, you will immediately inform SSA so that conflicts of
interest may be addressed.
6.
Your usage privileges
are granted only in connection with your spouse's continued engagement
by Schlumberger.
7.
Your usage privileges
are personal to you; you agree not to permit anyone else to use your
account
or password. For example, your children may not use your account
or password.
8.
You are responsible for
the confidentiality of your passwords and you will notify Schlumberger
immediately if you believe anyone else has learned these
passwords.
Passwords should be selected properly (at least eight characters,
with
a mix of letters and numbers; no names; no known words; etc.) and must
be changed regularly (at least every six months).
9.
Peer to Peer file sharing
applications are banned from use on the Schlumberger network.
-
Peer
to Peer costs significant
amounts of SINet bandwidth
-
Do
not use file-sharing software
such as Napster or similar systems. These services can allow a
surprising
degree of access by outsiders to many file types on your device,
sometimes
without the owner's knowledge.
- Peer
to Peer allows uncontrolled
traffic through firewall access to SINet
-
No
software is permitted which
would allow data sharing between a Schlumberger machine and the
Internet
without specific user control. Examples are Napster, Gnutella, all IRC
clients, or any future software that bypasses firewall security.
- Peer
to Peer can and is used
in incorrectly obtaining copy write and/or trademarked 3rd party data
-
Respect
third-party copyrights
and trademark claims in online images, text, video and audio material,
software, information, and inventions.
- Peer
to Peer allows virus like
MyDoom into SINet
-
KaZaA,
Grokster, Morpheus
and other similar utilities are specifically designed to circumvent
firewall
security and insecurely share files between protected networks (SINet)
and the public internet. They are notorious for security
vulnerabilities
such as spreading viruses, worms, and trojans, exposing confidential
information,
identity spoofing, and denial of service attacks. Furthermore, the
types
of files shared are most often copyrighted media or programs.
This
is illegal and potentially exposes the company to litigation and legal
action.
10.
You agree that Schlumberger
is not responsible for any liabilities that result from your misuse of
these facilities or breach of this agreement. For example, you
(and
not Schlumberger) are responsible for any copyright infringement if you
access and copy someone else's copyrighted material, and you (and not
Schlumberger)
are responsible for screening accessible material that might be
offensive
or inappropriate.
11.
You also agree that Schlumberger
is not responsible for any losses or complications you might encounter
on your home computer in connection with the installation of
associated
SINet and other software and/or the use of your account.
12.
You agree to protect
and keep confidential any non-public information accessed by use
of these facilities. Be advised that much information accessible
through your access account contains proprietary, confidential
information
relating to Schlumberger or to the customers of Schlumberger (here
called
"Schlumberger Proprietary Information"). This Schlumberger
Proprietary
Information is not available to the public; your access account is
"inside"
a Schlumberger security device (called a "firewall") which prevents
non-Schlumberger
persons from seeing this same material. Therefore, do not assume
that Schlumberger-related information you may encounter is "public"
information,
and do not disclose any such information to any other persons. This
agreement establishes your legal obligation to protect the
confidentiality
of Schlumberger Proprietary Information.
